akvola Technologies Celebrates its Most Successful Year 2017

A record number of purchase orders, 4 new team members, new product design and an innovation award are just some of the achievements of the company in their best year to date.

Berlin, Germany – January 22nd 2018 akvola Technologies GmbH, a water technology company providing solutions for the removal of oils, emulsions and suspended solids from hard-to-treat industrial wastewater, is happy to announce their best year to date.

Fast business growth and increased technology adoption

Matan Beery, CEO of akvola Technologies, looks back at the very successful year 2017, “Thanks to the great performance of our team it has been possible to close our best year with 16 purchase orders, all of them from leading companies in the metalworking, oil & gas and steel industries. With these results we have exceeded the objectives set in our Fast-Track Technology Adoption Plan – a plan laid out to accelerate the adoption of our akvoFloat™ technology by working with renowned brands on key industry pain points where our technology is disruptive in terms of cost-effectiveness”.

A larger team and new headquarters to support growth

In order to accommodate the continuing growth of business and its team the company has moved its headquarters to a business park located besides Tegel airport. The facilities include a new workshop to be able to handle the increased production output. A new pilot plant has already been built to support the increasing demand for the technology in China. During 2017 two new application engineers and two new sales engineers joined the team in order to manage the increasing project backlog and sales pipeline.

New product design and improved user interface

In the third quarter akvola Technologies released the new product design and user interface (HMI) for its akvoFloat™ plants. It was co-developed by our product engineers and Archimedes, a company specialized in the design of industrial equipment and interaction design. The result is plants that are easy to operate and maintain with minimal training.

Thought Leadership through publications

The company’s CTO Johanna Ludwig was featured in “Water Treatment Q&A” on Hydrocarbon Engineering, together with other experts from GE, Veolia, Black & Veatch and Baker Hughes – a success for the company’s Thought Leadership strategy in the refining industry. Moreover, some of our case studies were published in renowned specialized magazines, such as maschine+werkzeug (metalworking) or OIL GAS European Magazine (upstream oil & gas).

Events & Awards

akvola Technologies won the Frost & Sullivan’s 2017 Technology Innovation Award for its unique akvoFloat™ technology and was runner-up for the Hydrocarbon Processing Awards, an award honoring the refining industry’s leading innovations.

In 2017 the company was an exhibitor at EMO Hannover – Germany’s biggest event in the metalworking industry – and Aquatech Amsterdam – the world’s leading trade exhibition for industrial wastewater– where Susanne Glaser, process engineer at Total Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland GmbH, presented our case study on refinery wastewater reuse.

akvola Technologies hosted its first akvola DEMO DAY – a yearly event in which prospect customers and partners are invited to the company’s headquarters in order to get to know the akvoFloat™ technology and the engineering team behind it first-hand. A good stay accompanied by a good meal.

Additionally, the company had the honor to guide Brigitte Zypries, the German Minister of Economy, through their facilities and explain in detail the big impact that akvoFloat™ can have in Germany.

Outlook for 2018

“With the current backlog and sales pipeline we are already on track for outperforming 2017”, said Lucas León, CFO at akvola Technologies, “We will continue expanding our activities in the Asian market and strengthening our talent pool in order to accelerate the adoption of akvoFloat™ even further. The year 2018 is set to be most successful year of the company again”.
