Turn Wastewater Into Value
The high organic load of wastewater from the food and beverage industry is a major challenge for conventional plants, which our technologies solve in a cost-effective and energy-efficient way.
Our MicroGas™ microbubble generator removes suspended solids cost-efficiently and energy-saving, independent of pH, temperature, salinity, concentration and high fluctuations in production. The bubble generator is a part of the akvoFloat™-Technology, a patented water treatment technology which achieves high purity levels in drinking and process water quality through flotation and membrane filtration.

Applications

1. Revamping flotation plants with MicroGas™

Problem: In ageing plants the OpEx can be too high or no longer competitive in comparison to new alternatives. The CapEx of installing a full new system is also very high. Furthermore, operational problems, such as clogging in the the recirculation stream, also increase as DAF plants age.

Solution: A MicroGas™ –unit can be easily integrated in your current system to revamp the plant and prevent clogging. A very low energy consumption, less downtimes and maintenance work result in a fast payback time.

2. MicroGas™ is adjustable during production fluctuations

Problem: Highly loaded streams from different production lines generate large variations in concentration and flow rates. Conventional DAF systems are designed for fixed, average conditions and its process dynamics make it hard to adjust on the fly.

Solution: MicroGas™ is an adjustable solution, whereby the size of the microbubbles can be changed depending on the influent conditions. Additionally, one or more MicroGas™ units can be easily installed in the DAF plant and switched on and off as needed.

3. Harsh environments cause operational problems

Problem: Conventional water treatment plants can not handle reliably effluents with extreme pH and/or high salinities and temperatures. Also variations in effluent loads, densities and viscosities can become a problem for them.

Solution: Our ceramic-based technologies, MicroGas™ and akvoFloat™, are resistant to such harsh environments. They have been designed for high reliability and low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

4. Organic loads are not high enough to justify biological treatment

Problem: In cases where the existing COD/BOD levels are low, the installation of a biological treatment plant is not the smartest solution from the economical point of view – too high investment and operating costs.

Solution: akvoFloat™ flotation-filtration removes up to 99% of all suspended substances (TSS, COD, BOD) even in the presence of high fluctuations in flow rates and concentrations. Due to the small space requirement, an energy consumption of < 1kWh/m3 and its automation you can count on very low OPEX.

5. Enable wastewater reuse strategies cost-effectively

Problem: Conventional treatment trains (DAF, fat separators, biological treatment, ultrafiltration, ...) do not make wastewater reuse economically feasible.

Solution: akvoFloat™ is the ideal pretreatment for RO and can be implemented in a cost-effective manner. This will reduce your ecological footprint and overall water management costs.
